By: Sierra Voss

See yah 2016! A new year means a new concert season! And Nappy Roots are starting off Denver’s Cervantes Masterpiece 2017 concert season this Thursday, January 5th.

Nappy Roots got their start back in the 90s in Kentucky. The four-man collective hold a memorable place in the hip-hop world thanks to their release of five studio albums and 10 mixtapes. It’s pretty likely you’d recognize their most popular songs: “Good Day,” “Po Folks,” and “Aw Naw.” Their 2002 album Watermelon, Chicken & Gritz sold over three million copies, truly putting them on the map as a best selling hip-hop group in the 2000s. They most recently released their single “Looking Grown,” following their 2015 album release The 40 Akerz Project.

Skinny Deville, Fishscales, B. Stille, and Ron Clutch toured throughout 2016 playing shows for their incredibly loyal national and international fan base. They even made our NYE list last weekend where they rang in 2017 in Durango with Denver’s Jerney.

So make your way over to Cervantes’ this Thursday and let’s start the first week of 2017 concerts off right! Tickets here.
