Aspen's Britt Margit Plays Denver's Goorin Bros. Hat Shop Tomorrow Night

By: Hannah Oreskovich

Aspen’s Britt Margit, who just headlined the Poesic Fest last month (and who we first featured here), is making a stop in Denver tomorrow night at Larimer Square's Goorin Bros. Hat Shop. The 22-year-old Colorado native began her music career at age five when she wrote her first song. She then picked up a classical voice degree at CU Boulder, and is currently studying music business at CU Denver.

Britt Margit.

Britt Margit.

Britt is on Birdland Records, and has been since 2014. As our contributor Dawn once remarked, Margit’s sound “blends folk and classic rock with a bit of a poppy flavor that is soothing to the soul.” Last year, Margit released her single “Peace And Harmony (In The Bleak Midwinter)”, and recently, she dropped her latest, “Merry Go Round”.

Listen to Britt Margit’s “Merry Go Round”:

Tomorrow, Margit’s show at Goorin Bros. is free and open to the public. It starts at 8PM. When asked about the performance, Margit told us:

“For whatever reason, I tend to turn into a superstitious person when I perform. Part of that is always wearing my guitar pick earrings and necklace, and what I like to call my ‘power hat’. Somehow, I feel like playing at Goorin Bros. among all the pretty hats will only mean more good luck! I’m also really excited about how intimate this show is going to be; a sort of indoor picnic. Everyone is welcome and encouraged to bring along blankets, warm drinks, and whatever other cozy bits of fall they love.”

So go get cozy with Margit tomorrow at Goorin Bros. in Denver, and don’t forget to grab a hat! It’s the perfect season for a good beanie, and we know how you favor those Colorado.

Keep up with Britt Margit here.

Britt Margit: A Preview of Her EP "Melisma" & More

By: Dawn Raymond

Britt Margit will preview her new EP live this weekend.

Britt Margit is a budding singer/songwriter from Aspen, Colorado. Her interest in music started at 5 years of age, when she wrote her first song. It appears that she's been pursuing music, or perhaps it's been pursuing her, ever since. Her musical influences include Taylor Swift, Florence and the Machine, and Fleetwood Mac, among others, but you can't nail her sound down to any of their genres: She's got a style all her own.

Britt's sound blends folk and classic rock with a bit of a poppy flavor that is soothing to the soul. If you want to check her artistry out in advance of her EP release Melisma, you can find her at The Laughing Goat this Sunday, March 20th.  For more information on this preview show and the upcoming release of her full-length album, click here.

Listen to Britt's track “Peace And Harmony (In The Bleak Midwinter)”:
