Denver's Other Worlds Play Vertex Festival This Weekend

By: Hannah Oreskovich

Americana. Psychedlia. And Rock’n’Roll. That’s the combination of sounds you’ll hear from Denver five piece Other Worlds. Formed in 2014, and originally known around these parts as “Secret Band”, Other Worlds boasts the talents of Colorado music scene artists Alex Johnson (drums), Ben Waligoske (guitar/pedal steel/vocals), Jonah Wisneski (vocals/guitar), Logan Muckler (bass), and Phil Johnson (keyboards/vocals).

Other Worlds.

Other Worlds.

Though they’ve been writing and performing since their formation, it wasn’t until this year that the group released their debut album, Weather Patterns. Recorded at Evergroove Studio in Evergreen, CO, the nine-track release was mixed by Logan Muckler (Emerson Recordings), and mastered by Grammy-winning David Glasser (Airshow Mastering). Weather Patterns showcases the talents of every member of Other Worlds, with its driving guitar riffs, rolling percussion, smooth bass grooves, and echoing vocals. It’s a strong debut from a local band that is definitely worth checking out.

Other Worlds’ next gig is actually at Vertex Festival this weekend, so get tickets for that here if you haven’t already! Other Worlds plays La Hacienda stage on Friday, August 5th at 2PM. Make sure to check out Weather Patterns, and keep up with Other Worlds’ other happenings here!
