Interstate 10 are giving a voice to veterans and the American spirit.
Interstate 10 is the countrywide highway that connects California and Florida, and it is the same highway that connected now Army Rangers Justin Wright (Tallahassee, FL) and Andrew Yacovone (Hollister, CA), who make up the contemporary country pop duo that is known as Interstate 10.
The two met while training in Fort Benning, Georgia, and both shared musical talent. When they were deployed to Kandahar, Afghanistan in March 2014, they used their cherished downtime to create music together. They allotted time to meet on top of their company headquarters building to play their travel-size Martin and Taylor guitars, watching Apache helicopters and mortar illumination rounds speckle the distant skies. Their inspiration was driven by their longing to be home with loved ones, as well as the desire to create meaningful music and make it as songwriters.
It was during this time period that Justin and Andrew wrote and debuted their their YouTube hit song “Hometown Hero,” which touches on exactly these sentiments. Music bonded these two, and they continued to write relatable tunes that are both upbeat and emotionally-driven before returning to Ft. Carson, CO in December 2014.
Since then, Interstate 10 has performed internationally, playing live at the Falls Music Festival in Byron Bay, Australia, Rendezvous Music Festival in Beaver Creek, CO, the Ogden Theatre in Denver, CO, Bluebird Cafe in Nashville, TN, and at a Professional Bull Riders Event in Colorado Springs.
In late 2015, the duo recorded their full-length EP at The Spot Studios and collaborated with Glenn Sawyer, Jacob Cade, and Jay LaBella to create an eclectic musical experience. The group was also featured in the teaser trailer for their pump-up song, “Get Down,” which was released earlier this month.

Big things are in store for Interstate 10. And while Justin and Andrew were just sent on their second deployment to Afghanistan, they plan on creating more music relentlessly and passionately. With support from the United Service Organizations, they will have the avenues to perform their music, with live video streams from Kandahar and Bagram.
Interstate 10’s music is available on YouTube, iTunes, and ReverbNation. And to get an up close and personal look into their minds, be sure to check out their Facebook page and blog posts on their website.
